Job Summary
Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and send them to the kitchen. Serve food and beverages to guests, preparing and garnishing dishes as required, while maintaining product knowledge to inform guests of daily specials and recommend wine. Adhere to state liquor laws, verify minimum age requirements, and see to each guest's special needs, including allergies. Prepare and maintain table settings, assist with clearing tables, and remove dishes to the kitchen. Manage order times, inform guests of delays, and ensure immediate responses to guest comments. Prepare checks that itemize total costs and collect accurate payments. Clean tables or counters after dining and stock service areas with dining supplies.
Required Qualifications
- state-issued food handling + beverage certifications
- 6+ months of related experience in the hospitality industry
- ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- ability to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers
- ability to navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems
- ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
