Job Summary

Manage patient flow, coordinate administrative tasks, and perform phone triage to support Oculoplastic physicians. Conduct comprehensive pre-examination testing including visual acuity, OCT, fundus photography, and advanced diagnostic procedures. Scribe clinical encounters in the electronic medical record, administer ocular medications, and document laboratory results while ensuring accurate diagnostic coding. Clean exam rooms, charge devices, and adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols. Requires rotating schedule including days, evenings, and weekends with travel between Smithtown, Babylon, and other NY locations. Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or obtainable within 45 days; Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification required or enrollment expected within two years.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
  • Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Skilled in problem-solving with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in computer use, ranging from basic to advanced tasks
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification required, or candidate must be actively enrolled with completion expected within two (2) years of hire
  • Must be willing to travel between the Smithtown, Little Neck, Bethpage, Babylon, Rockville Centre locations
