Job Summary
Maintain access control and traffic inside facilities to ensure order and security of people and property. Detect and prevent fires, vandalism, theft, or infractions of the rules while protecting employees, visitors, and tenants. Maintain assigned posts throughout the facility until properly relieved and provide directions to visitors when requested. Complete an 8-hour pre-assignment training course and obtain a 16-hour on-the-job certificate within 90 days of employment. Hold a valid NYS Security Guard license and Fire Guard certification, maintaining all registrations throughout the role. Read and write post-and-patrol reports while applying basic math concepts to practical situations. As a mandated reporter, immediately report suspected abuse or neglect to the VPCR Hotline and complete incident reports.
Required Qualifications
- NYS Security Guard license
- Sufficient Education to comprehend basic reading, writing, and math to execute the required functions of the role
- 8-hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course certificate
- 16-hour On-the-Job security guard training course certificate within 90 days of employment
- 8-Hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year
- NYS Security Guard registration and must maintain registration during employment
- Fire Guard certification and maintain it throughout employment
- One year of relevant experience
- Obtain 'Criminal History Checks' (CHC) fingerprinting through the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice System) and Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance
- Ability to maintain fingerprint clearance throughout employment
- Ability to read and write post-and-patrol reports
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from superiors, tenants, funders, other organizations, and the public
- Ability to apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- As a Mandated Reporter, you must immediately report suspected incidents/cases of abuse and neglect to the Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) Hotline at 1-855-373-2122 and complete a CAMBA Incident Report
- Must have and maintain a NYS Security Guard license
- Must obtain NYS Security Guard registration and must maintain registration during employment
- Must obtain Fire Guard certification and maintain it throughout employment
- Must complete the 8-Hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year
- Must obtain a 16-hour On-the-Job security guard training course certificate within 90 days of employment
