Job Summary
Drive before school shuttles, morning and afternoon field trips, and afterschool athletic events on prescribed routes. Perform pre-trip safety inspections, monitor operating conditions, and report servicing needs to the Transportation Manager. Assist with vehicle maintenance, cleaning, fueling, and parking area upkeep including leaf blowing and trash removal. Comply with state laws, school policies, and DOT regulations while maintaining confidentiality. Submit to pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and pass ongoing random tests as required. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed, with local travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Clean driving record
- Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsements and Air Brake restriction removed
- Valid Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate
- Good and safe driving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff, students, and parents
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb a ladder and work while on ladder
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outside in any weather
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Local travel is required
- Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and on-going random tests as required per Federal DOT regulations
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Experience working with kids preferred
- School Bus (S) endorsement preferred
- Experience as a commercial or school bus driver preferred
