Job Summary
Greet guests with a friendly attitude, answer questions about store and merchandise, and recommend items based on guest needs. Maintain product knowledge, share sales and promotion updates, and help guests try on or fit merchandise. Check out purchases, bag items, and prepare merchandise for alterations while ensuring the sales floor is consistently sized and displays are optimized. Open and close cash registers, balance drawers, and process payments, exchanges, and returns. Perform merchandising tasks like handling freight, re-merchandising, and completing price markdowns to maximize sales and achieve personal sales goals. Recognize recruiting opportunities and maintain a positive floor culture while adhering to all store policies and loss prevention guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends, and the day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, based upon store and business needs.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver 30lbs throughout the store and backroom.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and jump; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Ability to sit (occasionally required).
- Ability to open and close cash registers, use magnetic card readers, perform tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
- Ability to watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
- Ability to follow all Loss Prevention guidelines, including daily bag and purse checks.
- Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) procedures.
- Ability to understand and execute all policies regarding payments, exchanges and Loss Prevention practices.
- Ability to perform merchandising tasks, such as handling freight, re-merchandising, preparing displays, completing price markdowns, and transfers.
- Ability to consistently maintain a clean, organized and shoppable store.
- Ability to provide feedback to Store Manager and Leadership Team regarding merchandise handling concerns.
- Ability to communicate any policy violations and Teammate or Guest concerns to Store Manager, District Manager, and/or Human Resources in a timely, confidential manner.
- Ability to understand and apply the Buckle's Code of Ethics and all Buckle's policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Ability to fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
