Job Summary
Monitor participant lines to ensure orderly entry and prevent weapons or visibly intoxicated individuals from entering the facility. Conduct routine patrols of interior and exterior areas, open and secure facility entrances and exits, and manage guest lines during pantry services and special events. Assess safety concerns and de-escalate conflicts, intervening when necessary to prevent escalation or escort disruptive participants. Prepare accurate incident reports for supervisory review and coordinate with law enforcement or emergency responders as needed. Maintain the agency's restricted participant list and assist in implementing workplace safety initiatives. Support staff in responding to emergencies and provide general program information to participants.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commitment to serving communities in need and supporting New York Common Pantry's mission and values
Desired Qualifications
- Full professional proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin
- New York State Security Guard Registration and security training
- CPR, First Aid, and Naloxone (Narcan) certification
- Strong communication, customer service, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in emergencies
- Basic computer skills for preparing incident reports and using email
