Job Summary
Operate power tools, vehicles, and equipment while performing manual tasks assigned by the Solid Waste Services Supervisor. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to assist in process improvements and report writing. Safely manage vehicles and trucks for the recycling program, assist with servicing tools used by the Recycling Center, and communicate with residents regarding proper disposal. Collaborate with the Solid Waste Services Specialist on community programs, special events, and local clean-ups. Requires a valid Kentucky driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent, and ability to work in extreme temperatures and varying moisture conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a standard high school, vocational school or the equivalency
- Experience or training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities to perform required duties in the Solid Waste Services Division
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical and instructional information
- Ability to make decisions which serve the county's best interest and follow the missions and objectives of the Public Works Department
- Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Kentucky driver's license
- Ability to work alone or as a team member of a Solid Waste Services Division performing tasks as assigned
- Ability to work with other departments, county and governmental agencies
- Ability to work under limited supervision
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have the ability to pass drug and background checks
