Job Summary
Teach up to three students simultaneously in interactive coaching sessions covering language and math, utilizing pre-planned lessons and Oxford Learning methodologies. Deliver instruction both online and in-person while filling post-lesson notes and completing daily student communication updates. Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor to help students build self-confidence and overcome academic hurdles. This role requires after-school and evening hours Monday through Thursday plus Saturday mornings, with a preference for a school-year commitment through summer. Applicants must reside near Burlington, pass vulnerable sector screening, and hold a relevant bachelor's degree or extensive tutoring experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience
- Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 9 curriculum
- Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 9 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Must be able to commute to this location
- Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory
- Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Burlington area
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching certification an asset
- A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred
- Continuing through the summer is even better
