Part-Time Physical Therapy Assistant

Job Summary
Provide physical therapy treatments and interventions according to the patient's plan of care, including assisting with therapeutic exercises, stretching, strengthening, range-of-motion activities, mobility training, gait training, and proper use of assistive devices. Perform transfer training using safe body mechanics, deliver techniques to reduce pain and restore function, and educate patients and families on home exercise programs. Observe, document, and communicate patient progress to the supervising Physical Therapist while collaborating with nurses, physicians, and other care team members. Maintain accurate clinical documentation, attend staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives, and follow all agency policies and infection-control procedures. Travel throughout Johnson County is required for this part-time role working Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current Iowa Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in good standing.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout Johnson County.
- Physical ability to assist patients with transfers, mobility training, gait training, therapeutic exercise, and activities of daily living.
- Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills.
- Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, reference checks, and any other screenings required by VNA and applicable state and federal regulations.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous home health experience.
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience working with geriatric and medically complex patients.
