Job Summary
Plan and provide direct therapy to students with disabilities as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEP), evaluating progress and adjusting adaptive equipment to promote independence. Consult with educational staff and parents regarding physical therapy goals, while managing student behavior and creating a conducive learning environment. Monitor student progress based on IEP data, compile required reports, and comply with federal, state, and local policies. Requires a valid Texas PT license and one year of experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Texas license as a physical therapist assistant granted by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (TBPTE)
- Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures, activities, and equipment used in physical therapy
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- One year of experience as a physical therapist assistant
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Regular districtwide travel to multiple work locations as assigned
- Moderate lifting
- May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities
