Job Summary
Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture, skin puncture, and heel sticks, while also gathering non-blood samples like urine and sputum. Verify patient identity, check requisitions for accuracy, and assemble necessary collection equipment before drawing blood into tubes or bags. Accession and process specimens, perform waived or moderately complex testing, and run quality control reports to ensure valid results. Handle receptionist duties, answer patient questions, and perform clerical tasks such as recording volumes and filing. Adhere to all safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and assist in training interns or supporting clinical areas as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail

Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from a Phlebotomy Technical Training Program
- Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification
- Previous Phlebotomy experience or equivalent externship experience
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical terminology obtained through previous medical practice experience (up to 1 year)
- Proficiency in the use of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proven solid interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
