Job Summary

Procure, prepare, package, and distribute medications under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist while maintaining inventory and re-ordering supplies. Operate and troubleshoot departmental automation equipment, ensuring product integrity through verification and timely distribution. Maintain accurate patient records, respond to customer inquiries, and assist with operational support including cleaning and disinfecting standards. Conduct quality assurance inspections for TJC requirements and handle hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines. Complete required training, competency assessments, and educational in-services while assisting in the orientation of new personnel. Work every other weekend shifts totaling 40 hours per pay period.

Required Qualifications

  • Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA
  • Active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration
  • Current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license
  • Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs max
  • Must be able to carry objects up to 35 lbs
  • Must be able to stand and walk occasionally to frequently
  • Must be able to sit occasionally
  • Must be able to perform close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
  • Must be able to handle blood-borne pathogen exposure
  • Must be able to handle bio-hazardous waste
  • Must be able to handle chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors
  • Must be able to handle communicable diseases
  • Must be able to handle electrical shock
  • Must be able to handle floor surfaces
  • Must be able to handle hot/cold temperatures
  • Must be able to handle indoor/outdoor conditions
  • Must be able to handle latex
  • Must be able to handle lighting
  • Must be able to handle patient care/handling injuries
  • Must be able to handle radiation
  • Must be able to work shift work
  • Must be able to use personal protective equipment, including respirators

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program
  • Enrollment in a professional-related school
  • 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician
  • Completion of ASHP-accredited tech training program
  • Travel may be required
