Job Summary
Provide instructional, behavioral and personal care support to a student with multiple disabilities as a 1:1 Paraeducator under the supervision of the classroom teacher and program supervisor. Duties include supporting the student per the Individual Education Plan, maintaining verbal communication, data entry and general computer skills, and following directions. Must meet credential requirements for Special Education Paraeducators or related alternative qualifications, and participate in required staff development (20 hours annually). The role requires physical ability to lift and assist students (ages pre-school to 21) and the use of CPI/Safe Crisis Management or Quality Behavioral Solutions methods for safety and behavior support. The position is part-time, school-year duration (5.5 hours/day, Monday–Friday, 185 days/year) with a starting hourly wage of $18.90. Training in CPI/SCM or equivalent is provided as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
- Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators through the PA Department of Education (or willing to complete within 6 months)
- 2 years of postsecondary study with minimum of 48 credit hours (transcript required)
- Associate degree or higher (degree or transcripts)
- Rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through an approved assessment within 6 months of employment
- Provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position each school year (pro-ration based on hire date)
