Job Summary
Answer patients call lights promptly and complete personal care and activity requests as directed by the registered nurse. Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures while maintaining cleanliness of the nursing unit and ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are present. Perform safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints, report behavioral changes, and provide security for patient personal property. Utilize specialized skills including phlebotomy, fingersticks, and electrocardiograms, and support unit activities during emergency situations. Collect data for quality and performance improvement programs and participate in unit meetings and orientation processes. Complete annual mandatory education and BLS certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience
- CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience
- PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with at least 6 months hospital experience
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic Life Support Cert
