Part-time Overnight Residential Counselor

Job Summary
Provide care in a trauma-informed therapeutic environment that supports residents' physical, mental, and behavioral health, and helps develop their life skills. Primary duties include overseeing residents' health, hygiene, education, and social/emotional well-being; ensuring a trauma-informed approach in interactions with residents and families; collaborating with the therapeutic staff; supervising residents during structured and unstructured activities; engaging youth in life-skills activities (e.g., cooking, cleaning, budgeting, employment-related tasks); maintaining a safe, healthy, and clean living environment and participating in household tasks; implementing behavior management and crisis-intervention techniques per agency policy; transporting youth as needed using agency vehicles; and conducting bed checks during overnight shifts (awake). The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred), 6 months’ experience with children/adolescents (residential setting preferred), strong organizational and communication skills, basic computer skills, statewide travel, and successful completion of background checks and medical clearances.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children and/or adolescents; experience in a residential setting preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Must authorize Child & Family to complete a motor vehicle records check
- Ability to pass background checks and medical clearances required for the position
- Statewide travel is required
