Job Summary

Conduct newborn hearing screenings on infants in well baby and NICU units prior to discharge, coordinating post-discharge follow-up care using appropriate procedures and computer technology. Work directly with nursing staff, patients, and parents to communicate the relevance of hearing screening and early intervention to support positive outcomes. Analyze responses to problem situations, maintain screening equipment, and assist with database management while adhering to company and hospital policies. Perform duties in accordance with HSA and hospital procedures following extensive training in Transient Otoacoustic Emissions and/or Automatic Auditory Brainstem Response technology.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Ability to walk and stand for a complete shift, 2-6 hours depending on size of hospital
  • Ability to push and pull screening cart
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times
  • Clear seven (7) year background check including criminal history and education verification
  • Verifiable prior employment including title and dates of hire
  • Must pass drug test and background check with favorable results
  • Bloodwork required to verify immunization Titers
  • Provide vaccination record upon hire and willingness to receive updated vaccinations, including COVID and Flu vaccination confirmation as required by hospital location
  • Ability to attend all company provided training
  • Willingness and ability to learn and operate hearing screening equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • One (1) or more years of healthcare or childcare training/experience, or related college curriculum
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to function independently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Alternating weekends and weekday availability
  • Start time of 8 AM daily
  • Shifts generally average 2-4 hours daily
  • Position offers approximately 4-8 hours per week
  • Screen babies 7 days a week, 365 days per year
  • Schedules are established quarterly
  • Thorough knowledge of procedures and instruments
  • Thorough knowledge of procedural variables and instrumentation in the application of Transient Otoacoustic Emissions and/or Automatic Auditory Brainstem Response technology
