Job Summary
Plan, prepare, and lead music for assigned liturgical celebrations including Saturday Vigil Mass, Sunday Mass, and special events. Direct and accompany choir rehearsals while recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer musicians. Select liturgically appropriate music consistent with Catholic teachings and diocesan guidelines. Collaborate with clergy and parish leadership to foster parish music ministry growth. Maintain music resources, licenses, and library materials. This part-time role supports the Sacred Liturgy at St. Therese, The Little Flower Catholic Church in Port Arthur, reflecting the mission of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Beaumont.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in vocal and choral leadership
- Ability to direct choirs and work effectively with volunteer musicians
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgical music, hymnody, and worship traditions
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods during rehearsals and liturgical celebrations
- Ability to lift and transport music materials and equipment as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic preferred with a strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and worship
- Previous parish music ministry experience preferred
