Job Summary
Room patients, obtain vitals, and update health information in the electronic health record. Administer injections as ordered, log medications, and prepare exam rooms by sterilizing surfaces and restocking supplies. Assist providers with procedures, document all care, and process patient referrals for specialty care. Handle administrative tasks including answering phones, completing prior authorizations, and managing medical records requests. Provide follow-up phone calls and conduct special projects as assigned by Leadership. Maintain a clean work environment and demonstrate exceptional customer service while adhering to corporate compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Medical Assistant Program
- One year or greater experience as a Medical Assistant
- 120 hours of completed clinical/externship experience through Medical Assistant Program
- Experience working in electronic health records
- Ability to work Saturdays
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
- Must have sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, Gender Affirming Care, sexual practices, chemical dependency and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications
- Reliable transportation
- Driver's license
- Proof of auto insurance
- Current certification in CPR/BLS
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to drive
- Must have written communication skills
- Must be able to utilize a computer for typing
- Must be able to attend meetings
- Must be able to administer injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal)
- Must be able to document all care provided and interactions with patients in the EHR
- Must be able to process patient referrals for specialty care
- Must be able to provide follow up phone calls to clients or other professionals
- Must be able to assure a clean, orderly, and functional work environment
- Must be an effective team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others
- Must be able to manage difficult or conflict situations constructively
- Must be able to act as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members
- Must be able to actively participate in departmental professional development activities
- Must be able to anticipate the customers' needs and take proactive steps to meet those needs
- Must be able to listen and take responsibility within scope to ensure issues are resolved
