Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Demonstrate competency in age and population-specific standards to ensure resident health, comfort, and safety while administering medications or treatments as ordered. Perform testing to evaluate resident status, document interactions and care outcomes, and counsel residents, family members, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans. Establish effective working relationships within the interdisciplinary care team and develop self-care programs for residents. Maintain an unencumbered LPN license, complete annual continuing education, and fulfill competency training requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility
- If position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
