Job Summary
Lifeguard position in the Sun Prairie YMCA Aquatics Department. Responsibilities include maintaining constant pool-area surveillance, promptly responding to emergencies, and upholding YMCA policies and procedures. Requires effective communication with members, staff, and supervisors; ability to interact with a diverse member base; maintain certifications (Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid) and meet training requirements; flexible scheduling with various shifts including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and seasonal summer hours. Emphasizes safety, accountability, and delivering a positive, secure environment while supporting the YMCA mission; offers a free YMCA membership upon employment.
Required Qualifications
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification upon hire
- Y Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Blood Borne Pathogen training within 60 days of hire
- Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness at all times
