Job Summary
Under general supervision performs skilled inspection work, litter clean up, and environmental compliance duties at the Municipal Landfills. Main responsibilities include controlling wind-blown litter around the perimeter and adjacent property, assisting in monitoring landfill conditions for regulatory permit compliance, conducting inspections, performing quarterly gas sampling, hazardous waste inspections, leachate sampling and management, storm water sampling and management, assisting in collection, handling, identification, containment, and storage of waste at the Hazardous Waste Storage Facility, and assisting in public education presentations; requires high school graduation, experience in hazardous materials or solid waste handling, a Utah CDL (Class D or B), computer proficiency, ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and strong communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Experience in hazardous materials handling and/or solid waste handling operations
- Valid Utah Class D or Class B CDL
- Ability to operate a computer and related software
- Ability to work in a wide variety of weather conditions
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Skilled in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
