Job Summary
Teach lecture and/or laboratory portions of Speech, Interpersonal Communications, or Public Communications courses, preparing and distributing syllabi while performing all preparation requirements for laboratory exercises. Evaluate student progress through examinations, quizzes, observations, and laboratory reports, acting as a liaison between the college and students. Implement curriculum changes as requested by the Department Chairperson or Lead Instructor and maintain appropriate instructional laboratories and equipment. Be available for individual student assistance, advising, and consultation as necessary. This part-time role involves one or two courses per semester with compensation based on contact hours, starting at $676 per hour, and includes benefits such as the State of Michigan retirement plan, tuition waiver, and ACC Wellness Center membership.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech Communications
- Master's degree in a related field
- 18 graduate credits in Speech course work
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching experience in a higher education setting, including online teaching
- Strong working knowledge of teaching methods
- Computer competency in word processing, instructional software and online instruction
- Curriculum development, especially online curriculum development
