Job Summary
Teach lecture and laboratory portions of Language & Reason, Intro to Philosophy, and/or Ethics courses, preparing and distributing syllabi while evaluating student progress through examinations, quizzes, and laboratory reports. Perform all preparation requirements for lab exercises, maintain instructional laboratories and equipment, and act as a liaison between the college and students. Implement curriculum changes, participate in curriculum development and revisions, and provide individual student assistance advising as necessary. Maintain a high level of academic competency through staff development activities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, with travel outside the local area depending on course location. Compensation is based on contact hours taught, starting at $676 per hour, with benefits including State of Michigan retirement, tuition waiver, and ACC Wellness Center membership.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Philosophy
- at least 18 graduate credits in Philosophy
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching experience in a higher education setting, including online teaching
- Strong working knowledge of teaching methods
- Computer competency in word processing, instructional software and online instruction
- Curriculum development, especially online curriculum development
