Job Summary
Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for Grades 9–12 students in math and science subjects, including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology. Deliver instruction both online and in-person while adhering to Oxford Learning's proprietary methodologies. Complete daily student communication updates and post-lesson notes after each session. Maintain a friendly and professional manner while helping students build self-confidence and overcome academic hurdles. Work evenings Monday through Thursday (4:00pm–8:00pm) and Saturdays (10:00am–2:00pm) with a commitment to the full school year preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Canadian Curriculum experience
- Must be available Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm
- Must be available Saturdays 10:00am - 2:00pm
- A commitment for the whole school year
- Continuing through the summer
- Reliability
- In-person work capability
- Ability to commute to the location
- Vulnerable sector screening
- Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience
- Teaching certification
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum
- Knowledge of Advanced Functions
- Knowledge of algebra
- Knowledge of trigonometry
- Knowledge of Calculus
- Knowledge of vectors
- Knowledge of physics
- Knowledge of chemistry
- Knowledge of biology
- Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math skills
- Ability to guide students' understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Monday to Thursday availability (Day 1: Mon/Wed OR Day 2: Tues/Thurs shift)
