Job Summary
Conduct one-on-one and small group math and science tutoring for Grades 9-12 students in-person, delivering pre-planned lessons using Oxford Learning methodologies. Teach up to three students simultaneously while maintaining professional communication and filling post-lesson notes. Provide daily student updates and foster self-confidence through interactive coaching. Work evenings from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with Saturday availability, committing through the 2026-2027 school year. Pass mandatory vulnerable sector screening and reside within a short commute of North York.
Required Qualifications
- Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
- Available for a minimum of 2 evenings/week
- Commitment through to the end of the 2026-2027 school year (June 30th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer
- In-person instruction
- Ability to commute to the designated location - relocation packages are not available
- Mandatory vulnerable sector screening
- Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience
- Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students' understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology
