Job Summary
General Dentist with a pediatric focus providing in-person dental care in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting in Los Angeles, CA. The role emphasizes pediatric dentistry while also treating adults within California licensure and clinic privileges, including preventive, diagnostic, restorative, urgent care, cross-population services, documentation in EHR, HIPAA/compliance, and collaboration with medical and behavioral health teams. Flexible part-time schedule (Monday-Friday 8 am–5 pm) in a clinic-based, community-health environment; independent contractor terms with California licensure, BLS, DEA/CURES if applicable, and credentialing considerations. The dentist must hold a California DDS/DMD, maintain an active license, and can provide pediatric and, as required, adult care within scope; duties include examinations, treatment planning, preventive services (prophylaxis, fluoride, sealants, oral hygiene instruction), restorative care, pulp therapy, space maintainers, education, and referrals as clinically indicated; cross-disciplinary coordination and adherence to HIPAA and clinic policies are required.
Required Qualifications
- DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
- Active, unrestricted California dental license in good standing with the Dental Board of California (time of contracting and throughout term)
- No disciplinary actions, restrictions, or probationary conditions on California dental license (or any state license)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
- DEA registration if prescribing controlled substances at the Clinic
- CURES registration if contractor holds DEA registration and will prescribe controlled substances
- Clinical competence in treating pediatric dental patients
- Ability to provide general dental services to adult patients within license privileges
- Ability to perform urgent and emergency dental care
- Eligibility for FQHC credentialing and privileging
- Eligibility for payer enrollment including Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal if required
- Not currently excluded or sanctioned from federal health care programs (Medicare/Medicaid) as verified
- Ability to meet occupational health requirements including immunizations and communicable disease screening
- Ability to work in person at the Clinic's California locations
