Job Summary
Teach up to three students daily in small-group sessions covering French language skills and academic study techniques. Guide learners through provided curriculum materials while explaining concepts and monitoring understanding. Deliver instruction in both in-person and online formats, maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor throughout. Complete daily post-lesson notes and student communication updates to track progress. Work evenings Monday through Thursday and select Saturdays, with a preference for year-round commitment. This role offers hands-on development of teaching skills within a team focused on improving student self-confidence and academic performance.
Required Qualifications
- All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00am - 1:00pm)
- A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred
- Continuing through the summer is even better
- Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English
- The candidate is required to instruct class sessions in French
- This role is in-person
- You must be able to commute to this location
- Relocation packages are not available
- Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory
- Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 4 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong French skills and ability to guide students' understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Simcoe area
Desired Qualifications
- A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred
- Continuing through the summer is even better
- Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred
- Teaching certification an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Elementary and High School French core curriculum
