Part Time ESOL Teacher - 1099 Contractor

Job Summary
Plan and deliver weekly in-person lessons for the Foundations of English (Level 0) class, covering basic literacy, letter and sound recognition, and everyday vocabulary. Create a patient, welcoming classroom environment for beginning-level adult learners while tracking student attendance and progress. Prepare and organize classroom materials, assist with CASAS pre- and post-testing, and communicate regularly with the Associate Director and ESOL Coordinator on student needs. Support graduation ceremonies and other program events as needed. This role includes two weekday evening classes and one Saturday class each week. The ESOL Teacher works under the supervision of the Associate Director, Long-Term Stability Services, at Part of the Solution (POTS), which serves over 35,000 people annually in The Bronx through dignity, wellness, food security, and long-term stability programs.
Required Qualifications
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to commit to two weekday evening classes and one Saturday class each week
- Warm, patient, and professional in interactions with participants, staff, and community members
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching English to adult beginning-level learners
- Identification with POTS's mission and values
- TESOL/ESOL certification
- Familiarity with beginning literacy instruction, such as phonics and letter/sound recognition
- Experience working with immigrant or low-income communities
- Spanish language proficiency
