Job Summary
Part-time English Teacher needed at Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School to teach two English classes on an alternating block schedule, 2-3 days per week. Responsibilities include delivering literature, writing, and language arts instruction with established curriculum, promoting critical thinking and college-ready writing, utilizing educational technology and Google Classroom, mentoring students, collaborating with the department, communicating with families, and participating in faculty and community activities while modeling Catholic faith-based values.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, English Education, or a related field with significant coursework in English literature and composition
- Hold or be eligible for a valid teaching license, preferably with certification in English or Language Arts. If not a licensed teacher, a commitment to licensure within 3 years of employment
- Comfort and proficiency with educational technology and digital learning platforms
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both students and colleagues
- A commitment to collaboration with faculty and students, including a willingness to grow professionally and contribute to a team environment
- Support for the Catholic mission of the school and a desire to model faith-based values in educational practice
- Preferred Qualifications include: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English or English Education; prior teaching experience in English Language Arts; familiarity with college preparatory English curriculum; experience with technology integration in the classroom
