Job Summary
Greet and check in patients, answer phones, and collect co-pays and insurance payments in a fast-paced emergency department environment. Process paperwork, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, create price estimates, and confirm patient services prior to discharge. Enter access data in real-time using computer systems while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for the Emergency Department, OP Registration, and Maternity units. Respond to patient inquiries with compassion and generate data reports to follow up on inconsistencies. This role supports Optum's mission to connect people with care and advance health optimization on a global scale.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting or phone support role
- Ability to work onsite at 4747 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder CO. 80303 in an emergency department setting
- Ability to work Monday from 6:30am - 7:00pm, Tuesday from 3:00pm - 11:30pm and Saturday from 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Must be 18 years of age or older

Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Experience working with electronic medical records such as Epic
- Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
- Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
- Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
- Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
