Job Summary
Part-Time Driver for Collab-Lab operating in the Greater Houston area. Responsible for driving the mobile education unit to service delivery routes and events, conducting daily safety checks and basic maintenance, coordinating with IT for vehicle repairs, maintaining records, and interacting professionally with families and staff. The role requires driving 4 days per week, in-person work, and adherence to safety and DOT regulations. The job emphasizes safety, route planning, and collaboration with team members and program management. It is not an entry-level driver position and requires CDL Class B, RV driving familiarity, and strong safety awareness.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years as a driver directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Minimum of one year with Commercial Driver License (CDL – Class B) highly preferred
- Must be trained in RV driving techniques
- State Bus Driver’s Certification course preferred
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures
- Ability to read and interpret routes and maps
- Good communication in English (written and spoken)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Clear driving record (Texas DPS) with no major violations in last 3 years
- DOT regulatory compliance (49 CFR Parts 40 and 382)
- Ability to pass drug/alcohol tests
- Experience with vehicle maintenance recordkeeping helpful
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Outlook/Zoom/Teams
- Ability to stand, lift ~25 pounds, and perform physical tasks as required
- Must have reliable transportation and valid Texas Driver’s License with CDL endorsement
- Non-exempt hourly position with overtime eligibility
