Job Summary
Support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve personal goals and facilitate relationships, skills, and roles for effective community participation. Provide direct support for behavioral needs, complex medical requirements including G-tube and tracheotomy care, and mental health challenges involving high anxiety. Implement Crisis Prevention Intervention principles and verbal de-escalation techniques while managing medication dispensing and safety protocols. Work independently and as a team member across days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificates along with a valid G driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- DSW or equivalent
- minimum of two years experience working with people who have an intellectual disability
- Ability to support behavioral needs and protocols
- Ability to support complex medical needs i.e. G-tube and tracheotomy care
- Previous experience supporting people who have mental health issues and dealing with high anxiety situations
- Solid understanding of the principals of CPI
- experience with verbal de-escalation
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a team member
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Current First Aid certificate
- Current CPR certificate
- Current Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificate
- Training in dispensing medications
- Valid G driver's license
- Valid driver's insurance
