Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for initial patient assessments, laboratory work, point of care testing, and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include triaging patients, assessing conditions, administering medications, monitoring changes, collaborating with care teams, accurate charting of medical histories, and providing discharge instructions to patients and caregivers. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited RN program, two years of Critical Care experience, and BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ENPC certifications. A registered nursing license to practice in Indiana is required.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program by date of hire
- Two years of Critical Care experience
- Registered Nurse – licensed to practice in the state of Indiana upon hire date
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – upon date of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 90 days of hire or transfer to position
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 90 days of hire or transfer to position
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) - within 90 days of hire or transfer to position
