Job Summary
PT Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department delivers ionizing radiation per prescription, operates radiation-producing equipment with radiation safety measures, and performs complex and precise procedures. Core duties include quality-control monitoring, delivering precise therapy to designated treatment areas, patient assessment with age-appropriate care (adolescent, adult, geriatrics), EMR documentation, patient and family education on side effects and treatment aids (blocks, wedges), adherence to safety and physician/physicist instructions, mobility and fall precautions assessment, radiation-safety badge use, daily warm-up procedures, and notifying management of discrepancies. The role also involves simulator tasks for new or changed treatment fields, scheduling, on-call rotation, and involvement as a student clinical instructor for RTT and RTR students with feedback to the Clinical Advisor. Requires an Associate’s Degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy program, ARRT Radiation Therapy certification, and BLS. Two years of radiation therapy experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree; must be a graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program
- ARRT Radiation Therapy Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Required
