Job Summary
Part-time Client Support Specialist at Greenville Shelter provides trauma-informed support to clients, carries a shelter support caseload, delivers structure and guidance for communal living, documents interactions, supports behavioral management, and collaborates with Shelter Operations to maintain a safe, welcoming environment. Responsibilities include regular check-ins, setting boundaries and routines, de-escalation during distress, referring needs to Advocacy, accurate documentation, orientation for new arrivals, room preparation, shelter walkthroughs, OTC medication dispensing as needed, and active teamwork with supervisors and colleagues to adjust support strategies while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. Requires 1–2 years in shelter or related settings (preferred), strong communication and computer skills, and a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in shelter, residential, or communal living environments preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and structured support approaches
- Strong communication, documentation, and follow-through skills
- Computer literacy required, including the ability to navigate client databases and use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) for documentation and internal communication
