Job Summary

Prepare, serve, and store foods and beverages while cleaning food service facilities and equipment. Rotate through full School Nutrition functions, including cashier duties, inventory management, and sanitation. Follow recipes, portion control standards, and health safety protocols to maintain temperature control and proper storage. Assist with receiving supplies, completing reports on food temperatures and quantities, and participating in promotions to increase customer counts. Maintain personal hygiene, adhere to the dress code, and attend required training sessions. Work in varying temperatures and lift up to 30 pounds alone.

Required Qualifications

  • A level of education necessary for reading and following written instructions, menus, recipes, work schedules, training materials and other written information related to the work
  • Ability to be trained and function as a cashier, including counting money in coordination with others
  • Visual acuity
  • Ability to hear and speak
  • Transportation to and from work
  • Possesses general knowledge of food preparation and safe food handling
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work
  • Ability to reach, push, pull, lift, finger and grasp
  • Ability to walk and stand continually during work hours
  • Ability to stoop, bend, lean and crouch
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds alone and 40 to 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work in a range of temperatures from high too low (examples: hot kitchens & freezers)
  • Ability to work at an acceptable rate to complete tasks and adhere to schedules
  • Ability to perform essential functions detailed below
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others on an ongoing basis
  • Must exhibit an ability to work harmoniously with others on an ongoing basis
  • Complies with applicable School Nutrition regulations under the National School Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and other programs
  • Attends training sessions as required
  • Completes and participates in required training such as monthly education modules, back to school training, on-site and additional in district and out of district training opportunities
  • Follows established School Nutrition dress code
  • Practices good personal hygiene
  • Regular dependable attendance with absences approved in advance with the exception of sick leave which may be approved after the fact
  • Keeps use of personal electronic devices to a reasonable level during work hours and limits use of the same, if and when asked to do so by immediate supervisor

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Possession of School Nutrition Association Certification is desirable
