Job Summary
Assist with day-to-day operations of Oakland Family Services Children's Learning Centers by providing care and supervision of children, implementing developmentally appropriate activities using the High Scope approach, and maintaining accurate child records. Provide classroom coverage during teacher absences, support behavioral plans, and collaborate with the team on lesson planning and curriculum needs. Ensure a clean, safe learning environment while adhering to state licensure standards and participating in required professional development and team meetings. This part-time role involves 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling options from 1:00pm-6:00pm or 12:00pm-5:00pm Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children 12 months through 12 years old
- demonstrated knowledge of child development
- Communication skills that focus on positive and professional communication with parents and children
- Abilities and skills in the team approach to problem solving and task completion
- sensitivity to the diversity of the agency's service population including differences of culture, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic
Desired Qualifications
- Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) preferred
- Experience utilizing or willingness to learn and implement the High Scope approach
