Job Summary
Provide goal-directed, medically necessary peer support services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness to assist them to remain in the least restrictive environment. The role includes service provision case management, peer support using identified methods to remediate symptoms and improve well-being, helping consumers regain independence in decision-making, sharing lived experience, providing transportation to medical appointments and related activities, and facilitating access to community resources, education, and social or consumer-run activities. Responsibilities also include completing progress notes per COMCARE/CCBHC guidelines, entering notes for records and authorizations, recording no-shows and cancellations, participating in team meetings, entering AIMS data, attending staff meetings and supervision, driving to sites, pursuing continuing education/training, and traveling using a personal vehicle to fulfill duties.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must self-identify as a person in recovery from a behavioral health condition
- Must be able to achieve and maintain designation as a Certified Peer Support Specialist for the State of Kansas, including completion of all required training within 6 months of hire
- Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, and adult abuse registry
- Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE
- Must have access to personal passenger vehicle to complete the driving duties of the position
- Valid US driver's license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance
