Part-Time CDL Instructor

Job Summary
Prepare and deliver hands-on CDL training to students, establishing clear objectives and assessing performance with detailed feedback. Maintain the truck driving range, keep accurate trainee records, and offer mentorship within the trucking industry. Collaborate with the VP of Operations to oversee equipment maintenance and stay current on compliance regulations. Travel to client sites for contracted training as needed. Select a flexible part-time schedule, such as two or three days per week plus Saturdays, or Saturdays only. This role supports CNS's mission to help clients across transportation and other industries stay safe and compliant.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years driving with a CDL
- Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear instruction
- Maintain a positive attitude in all circumstances
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time and responsibilities
- Exceptional driving skills
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision or on-site support
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Class "A" Unrestricted CDL License
- Current DOT medical examination and valid medical card
- Availability matching one of the schedule options above
- Must pass substance abuse tests
- Must pass Pennsylvania clearances for criminal background check
- Must be added to the CNS DOT drug and alcohol consortium, per FMCSA regulations and subjected to random drug and alcohol testing
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, wind)
- Must demonstrate vehicle inspections, maneuvers, and driving techniques
- Must have manual dexterity
- Must have visual acuity
- Must have auditory skills to assess student performance and communicate effectively
