Job Summary
Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total customers' purchases, receive payment, and assist in bagging purchases while maintaining courteous customer service. Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty programs, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately. Weigh and bag purchases; understand check-stand equipment and maintain front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items. Ensure proper use of PLU codes and report pricing or signage errors. Communicate store programs and in-store specials to customers; model high standards of service to achieve a customer-oriented store. Maintain compliance with security, cash handling, and safety policies, including handling alcohol and tobacco per policy; keep the department clean and stocked; assist with stocking as needed. Follow PPE and safety guidelines and food safety/cleaning expectations. May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good customer service and organizational skills
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
