Job Summary
Greet customers warmly, assist with product selection, and process payments at the bakery counter. Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods while monitoring freshness and supply levels. Review daily orders, maintain proper sanitation, and operate the department register. Check in product, manage inventory, and remove trash to keep the area tidy. Work alongside teammates to ensure a smooth experience, following all dress code and hygiene standards. This part-time role supports Hy-Vee's commitment to customer service and team engagement in a busy bakery environment.
Required Qualifications
- ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
- ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- ability to use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
- ability to communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy bakery environment
- ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
- ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
- ability to maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- ability to work with and around standard bakery equipment
- ability to handle exposure to flour dust, noise, temperature extremes, and damp conditions
- ability to handle exposure to electrical equipment and cleaning products or solvents
