Job Summary
Assistant Manager/Key Carrier at Big Lots, responsible for providing excellent customer service and supporting the Store Manager with overall store operations. Duties include assisting with hiring, training and development of store team members, performing opening and closing procedures in the manager's absence, protecting assets including cash, enforcing safety policies, maintaining a professional environment, supervising hourly team members when the Store Manager is not present, implementing SSC Corporate directives, handling receipt and return of DSD merchandise, managing freight flow and stock levels, meeting productivity standards, ordering and stocking merchandise, maintaining stockroom and sales floor organization, ensuring the sales floor is effective daily, and planning/directing Store Operations Weekly Bulletin directives. Qualifications include prior retail and management experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in a high-energy, team environment with a flexible part-time schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
