Job Summary
Part-time Assistant Naturalist to help run nature-based programs, staff the nature center, and contribute to exhibits and environmental education across Hendricks County Parks and Recreation. Responsibilities include maintaining the nature center, developing interactive exhibits, delivering environmental education and recreation programs, presenting nature programs to groups and schools, and engaging with park patrons during outreach. Qualifications emphasize knowledge of nature and biology, multimedia presentation skills, strong communication abilities, and a valid driver’s license. Must be able to work weekends/evenings and perform duties indoors and outdoors in all seasons; physical requirements include walking/standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge in nature, biology and the outdoor world
- Knowledge of modern multi-media techniques used in program presentation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and demonstration of a safe driving record
