Part-Time Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Job Summary

Lead the development and supervision of the Men's Basketball Program by assisting the head coach in roster planning, organizing in-season and off-season practices, and recruiting student-athletes aligned with a Christ-centered identity. Manage team devotions, community outreach, and open communication with athletes while ensuring compliance with MBI and NCCAA guidelines. Support away competitions by driving the athletic bus or van and assist with training concepts to keep players healthy. This part-time role includes a $5,000 stipend over six months for a candidate with basketball coaching experience, a valid driver's license, and First Aid/CPR certification. The position requires working onsite at the Solheim Center in Chicago, IL, without sponsorship, to further Moody Bible Institute's mission of equipping people with the Truth of God's Word.

Required Qualifications

  • Basketball experience in coaching or playing
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A valid driver's license and a responsible driving record
  • Able and qualified to drive a 14-passenger bus
  • Knowledge of basic Microsoft, Google, and Social Media platforms
  • Certified or becomes certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Able to work in the US legally, without sponsorship
  • Physical ability to participate in basketball practice and physical training
  • Enjoys working with college students
  • Authorized to work in the US legally without sponsorship
  • Candidates must align with MBI's Christian identity

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in coaching basketball or playing at a collegiate level
  • Knowledgeable in training and nutrition concepts for basketball players
  • Familiar with the vision and history of Moody Bible Institute
  • Self-motivated and creative
  • Ministry experience
