Part-Time After-School Household Science Instructor

Lead engaging after-school science sessions for students, delivering structured hands-on lessons that introduce practical science concepts through safe real-world experiments and demonstrations. Teach topics such as Everyday chemistry using safe household materials, States of matter and simple chemical reactions, Kitchen science and cooking chemistry, Cleaning science and how soaps and surfactants work, Simple machines and forces found in the home, Engineering challenges using common household items, Environmental science topics like recycling and energy use, Recording observations and basic scientific inquiry. Roles involve coordinating with school staff, managing materials, and maintaining a positive, structured classroom environment. Requires minimum 60 college credits, comfort teaching basic science concepts to youth, strong communication and facilitation skills, and reliability. Schedule is 1–4 hours per week, typically one hour per session, with programs launching throughout the school year and length around 10 weeks; compensation starts at $50+ per instructional hour, flexible based on assignment and instructor experience.
