Job Summary
Lead engaging after-school science sessions for students, delivering structured, hands-on lessons that explore practical science concepts through safe experiments and demonstrations. Create a positive, structured classroom environment, coordinate with school staff and Concorde program contacts, manage materials and cleanup, and adapt activities to the interests and needs of students. Sessions are typically once per week for about one hour, with potential for multiple programs per week depending on availability. Topics include everyday chemistry, states of matter, kitchen science, simple machines, environmental science, and basic scientific inquiry, with an emphasis on curiosity, problem-solving, and connecting science to everyday life.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 60 college credits completed
- Comfort teaching basic science concepts through hands-on activities
- Experience working with youth (schools, camps, after-school programs, or tutoring)
- Strong communication and group facilitation skills
