Job Summary
Lead engaging after-school science sessions for students, delivering structured, hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Develop curiosity and problem-solving skills through weekly enrichment lessons, adapt activities to student needs, and maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment. Coordinate with school staff and Concorde program contacts while managing materials and ensuring proper clean-up; demonstrate strong communication and facilitation skills. Ideal for current or former teachers, college or graduate students studying science, education, or STEM fields, or STEM professionals who enjoy teaching youth. Possible topics include everyday chemistry, states of matter, kitchen science, simple machines, environmental science, and recording observations. This is a flexible, part-time role with sessions typically meeting once per week for about one hour, with opportunities to teach multiple programs per week based on availability.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 60 college credits completed
- Comfort teaching basic science concepts through hands-on activities
- Experience working with youth (schools, camps, after-school programs, or tutoring)
- Strong communication and group facilitation skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
