Job Summary
Create a safe, engaging environment for school-aged children from 2PM to 5:30PM, Monday through Friday. Provide active supervision, assist with homework and enrichment activities, and facilitate recreational developmentally appropriate programs. Serve snacks per CACFP policies and maintain accurate attendance records while ensuring authorized pick-ups. Keep the facility clean and compliant with BFTS safety and sanitation regulations, reporting any incidents immediately. Maintain professional communication with parents and attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Meet BFTS staff qualification requirements for school-age care
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting through DECAL/BFTS
- Hold or be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, sit on the floor, bend, and move quickly in response to child needs
- Visual and auditory ability to observe and monitor child safety
Desired Qualifications
- CDA, TCC, or related coursework in child development
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in a licensed childcare or after-school program
- Ability to relate to children and their families with warmth, patience, and professionalism
