Part-Time (20 hrs/week) Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Job Summary
Provide 9 to 11 hours of weekly therapy, including individual, family, and group sessions, while facilitating parent/child support groups and offering crisis intervention for suicidal or high-risk clients. Conduct assessments for mental health and substance abuse concerns, referring clients to psychiatric care when appropriate. Collaborate with Case Managers to promote therapy availability for shelter residents within seven days of intake and maintain client files in Apricot with accurate documentation. Participate in clinical supervision, staff trainings, and statistical reporting as needed. This role supports Safehome's mission to empower survivors of domestic violence and their children through counseling, legal support, and community programs in Johnson County.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working with domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, women's and children's issues
- Working knowledge of counseling theories and practice including brief therapy and crisis intervention
- Effective computer literacy skills (Microsoft office suite, data entry skills, word processing, basic email skills, client management programs, etc.)
- Effective oral and written communication skills. This includes telephone and email etiquette
- Ability to identify and solve problems in a calm and logical manner
- Responsibility, accountability and demonstrated integrity
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
- Sound judgement, prioritization of tasks and efficient time and resource management
- Flexibility and openness to feedback, change and new ideas
- Understanding of the concept of boundaries with clients
- Ability to work under substantial stress and handle crisis situations
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally with diverse groups of people and various populations in a culturally competent manner
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Master's degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy
- Current licensure in the State of Kansas to provide therapy
- 2-4 years of direct therapy experience
Desired Qualifications
- Clinical degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy
- Experience in the areas of domestic violence, substance abuse, child development; counseling theories and modalities such as EMDR and play therapy; as well as crisis intervention and trauma informed care
