Job Summary
Monitor safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior Parks facilities, including meeting rooms, restrooms, and parking lots. Perform opening and closing duties, restocking restrooms, and handle litter removal across park grounds and inside facilities. Operate a vehicle while executing assigned tasks, ensuring a valid driver's license is maintained throughout employment. Conduct preventive maintenance on Parks and Recreation Department equipment, buildings, and structures using appropriate tools. Assist with other projects as assigned. Work in constant alertness in all weather conditions, frequently lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally moving up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance
- Ability to lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
- Ability to perform minor maintenance on parks equipment, building and structures
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
- At least one (1) year of experience performing manual labor
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the public
- Ability to utilize common sense understanding to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature
